Why does the government expect us to keep receipts for years when businesses print them on paper that practically self-destructs?

Today, receipts are printed on thermal-paper that either fades into oblivion, turns black or becomes completely unreadable long before anyone might actually need them.

If the IRS wants proof years later, maybe somebody should make sure the proof can survive that long!

Not everything frosts Grandpa Grumpy’s flakes. Sometimes something just gets him thinking.

After watching "Brink of War," a movie about President Ronald Reagan’s 1986 meeting with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, I left the theater thinking about the collapse of the Soviet Union and wondering about America’s future.

What happens when a nation becomes so comfortable with its freedom that people assume it can never disappear?

Are we protecting the principles that made America successful, or slowly trading them away through complacency, tolerance, convenience and the endless pursuit of profit?

This Grandpa Grumpy episode is a little different. It’s less of a rant and more of a question about freedom, capitalism and whether nations sometimes contribute to their own decline.
